At the Integrative Psychiatric Healing Center, we approach psychological suffering with the aim of alleviating pain as well as addressing root causes. Our clients do not want to take a medication long-term or to mask symptoms. They want personalized medical care tailored to their specific needs. Beginning with a thorough ninety-minute medical evaluation, we will map a treatment plan to address both symptoms and causes. Follow-up sessions are never shorter than thirty minutes. Our way of healing integrates the best practices of traditional Western medicine with the most effective techniques from a variety of other medical traditions.
Wherever possible, the most natural treatments will be recommended. Pharmaceutical treatments are sometimes necessary in a crisis or with severe symptoms; however, generally lower doses and shorter durations of treatment are used for prescriptions. We regard medications as a catalyst for deeper work, and not as a complete stand-alone treatment.
Full-blown psychiatric disorders are most often caused by unmitigated chronic stress without enough resources to meet your stressors. We will help you develop the skills to be able to face challenges and overcome them, while we are addressing current symptoms, to cultivate long-lasting wellbeing.
Initially, treatment plans often include addressing physiological imbalances, such as supplements, vitamins, dietary recommendations, sometimes hormone replacement, and even prescriptions medications. As our clients gain strength and balance, medications are usually reduced or eliminated altogether.
The role of psychotherapy is emphasized, as various medical studies have shown its superior effectiveness versus medication treatments in all but the most severe situations. The synergy of medication and psychotherapy is an effective combination early in recovery.
